An Aid with the Butt
"Have you guys eva assist a surgery before?" Dr. Omen George.
Showing sparkling hope in our eyes~
"Why, neva?" Dr. Omen George.
"Would like to, but lack of opportunities." me, looked excited.
"ok, Chim, go scrub then." Dr. Omen George.
The second before, I tod he was kidding....
And the next moment me and AJ were in the scrubroom.
Wore an apron, opened up a scrub brush, 5 miuntes, hands above elbows, gown on, gloves on!
Trying to act cool, but I knew we both looked like dummies, ha (^-^)"
Abdominoplastomy, in layman, Tummy Tuck.
In other words, flattens the abdomen by removing extra fat and skin, and tightening muscles in the abdominal wall.
According to the surgeons, they are going to remove a belt of skin from the patient's abdomen.
Started off with the back of the patient.
The surgery last for almost 5 hours.
I assisted Dr. Faizal while AJ was with Dr. George.
Cutting the dermids with scalpel then the subcutaneous fat all the way down to the underlying muscle meanwhile stopped the bleeding from some small arteries bed in the fats with a (monopolar) electrosurgical coagulation.
"I'll always remember AJ's expression when blood sneeze out the moment Dr. George cut a larger artery hidden within the fats."
Things were made difficult because the fat layer of our big patient...
We had to push the buttocks away for a better vision when the surgeon were cutting.
In the mean time, we need to clean the blood frequently.
We were taught to hold a surgical scissors and cut the sutures near the end of the surgery.
Then, flip the patient over, for the front part.
That's a big procedure, ha, as it involved almost 10 doctors and nurses.
"Phew~"
A conclusion was made after the surgery.
Surgeons are tough cookies! SALUTE~
Great experience, thanks Doc!
